A capital campaign is an effort to raise funds to pay for a significant project. Campaign funding is in addition to a donor’s current support and fulfilled over a certain period. Supporters pledging to St. Mary Magdalen’s campaign will have three years to fulfill their commitment.
Prior to launching our campaign, we participated in an in-depth campaign planning study. The results revealed that support exists within our community to raise the funds needed to cover the projects. With your support, we will meet the needs of our growing parish and school for years to come.
History shows the best way to maximize an organization’s fundraising potential is through personal appeals. That means many of your brothers and sisters in faith—and you could be one of them—will form our campaign team. These men and women serving as campaign leaders or volunteers, will work alongside Father Kirk and Mr. Tiernan in making personal appeals.
Each family will receive a letter inviting them to consider a commitment to the campaign. Campaign leaders and volunteers will work to arrange personal visits so they may address concerns, answer questions and encourage campaign support. Leadership will encourage all of us, in the spirit of good stewardship, to rise to the occasion and make sacrificial and meaningful donations to ensure a successful future for our parish.
The active phase of our campaign will run from February through May. We will ask members to consider a three-year pledge to the campaign – that is in addition to their regular stewardship – to maximize support.
Currently our focus is on campaign preparations. Our goal is to begin public appeals in early February. At that time, we will ask that you willingly receive a volunteer call or return the call if necessary. Remember, we recruited our volunteers, and they graciously joined our campaign team knowing we need their help. These are fellow members of our proud St. Mary Magdalen community so please treat them respectfully.
For many of life’s most important steps, the right time hardly ever presents itself. It’s no different with a capital campaign for a parish and school. Of course, we will be mindful of the financial hardships that stem from the pandemic. However, God calls us to be stewards of Catholic education as well as the spiritual and physical Church. It is our responsibility to do what we can to support these needs.
Our expectation is, of course, to meet or surpass our goal. If that doesn’t happen, Fr. Kirk, along with parish and school leaders, will meet with architects to strategize on an alternative. We pledge to provide consistent communication throughout the campaign and to provide updates should plans change.
