Knights of Columbus Youth Free Throw Championship All girls and boys ages 9 to 14 are invited by the Bishop Curtis Council to participate in a competition for the Knights of Columbus Free Throw Championship. The local competition will be held on Saturday, December 28, 2024 at 10AM (doors open at 9:30AM) in the SMM Gym. Registration will take place prior to 10AM on the day of the event. Girl Scout Fundraiser The girls of Troop 771 have been scouting together for over 10 years. Before they enter their Senior year of high school, they want to celebrate their experiences together with a trip this spring to Savannah, GA, the birthplace of Girl Scouting. To help raise funds for their trip, the girls will be selling baked goods after Masses, as well as wrapping presents in exchange for a goodwill donation, on December 7th, 8th, 14th, 21st, and 22nd in the church hall. On December 15th, gift wrapping will only be available after the 10:30am Mass. Thank you for your support!

Christingle KitsDuring the 1st weekend of Advent, children will receive a Christingle kit to put together at home. Unwanted Halloween Candy? If you have any extra or unwanted Halloween candy, please bring it to church in a bag marked Stocking for Soldiers and put it on the table in the main vestibule or the parish office. Memorial VespersPlease join us on Sunday, November 3rd at 3 p.m. for a special afternoon prayer service in remembrance of the faithfully departed. We remember especially those that have been listed in the Book of the Dead for the past year, from Oct. 2023 – Sept. 2024. There will be wooden crosses, each with the name of a person listed in our book. At the end of the service family members may take these crosses home to keep.
Relics of St. Padre Pio We are pleased to share with you that SMM will be hosting relics of St. Padre Pio on Friday, November 1st. During the veneration, you will be able to view 5 of his relics: Saint Pio's white glove, a lock of Saint Pio's hair, Saint Pio's handkerchief used during the Mass to wipe his tears, Saint Pio's crusts of his wounds and a piece of Saint Pio's mantle. You will also be able to purchase devotional items and write down prayer intentions for St. Padre Pio.
Trunk or Treat SMM Parish will be holding our 5th Annual Trunk or Treat on Sunday, October 27th from 11:30am to 12:30pm in our parish parking lot. Set up will begin at 11:15am. You must pre-register for this event. Registration will close on Thursday 10/24 at 6pm.

Flag Retirement Ceremony The scouts of St. Mary Magdalen will hold a Flag Retirement Ceremony on Sunday, October 20th at 11:15am on the Rectory Lawn. The community is welcome to attend this event. Flags that are no longer fit to be flown will be properly retired. Each flag is retired in the name of a deceased veteran. If you would like a deceased member of the Armed Forces remembered at our service, please complete this form.

Adult Choir Rehearsals We are happy to announce that the Adult Choir of Saint Mary Magdalen will resume rehearsals on Thursday, September 5, 2024 from 7:00-9:00 pm. Rehearsals will take place in the choir loft. We would like to invite new members from high school age to adult to join us. We have openings in all voice parts and could especially use a few more men’s voices. Jazzercise Jazzerciseis at St. Mary Magdalen this summer! Classes begin June 17th! Jazzercise is a combination of aerobic exercise and dance fitness. May Crowning 2024 Our May Crowning service is on Monday, May 13th at 2pm. Additionally, the Blessed Mother statue will be placed at the center aisle for all weekend masses. Palm Sunday Procession Children attending mass on Sunday, March 24th are invited to be part of the Palm Sunday Procession with Father Kirk. Children will enter the procession, behind the Cross bearer, and walk forward bearing Palms. Father Kirk will perform the opening to Mass, bless the palms and provide the opening prayer. After the prayer, children will then follow the leader carrying the Lectionary towards the back of the church, as usual. Parents are welcome to process with their children if they might need encouragement. If joining the procession, please meet in the vestibule around 8:20am.
Marian Stations We will hold Marian Stations Saturday, March 16 at 9am after daily Mass. These stations, sometimes called Mary’s Way of the Cross, attempt to present that viewpoint. In these stations, we see through Mary’s eyes what Jesus was going through on the way of Calvary.
Walk To Easter 2024 The Walk to Easter program traces the steps of Jesus during Holy Week, from Palm Sunday to Easter. This year it will be held on March 29th from 8:45am - 12 pm. Children ages 4-11 will experience the mysteries of our faith through storytelling, music, and art. We need volunteers help to run this program. To register & learn more please click here.
Easter Egg Hunt Donations Help us to prepare for our annual Easter Egg Hunt. Please sign-up to purchase and stuff eggs. Stuffed eggs can be dropped off at church, the parish office, school or during Prep by March 26th. Students can also receive service credits for this activity!

Funeral Planning Workshop Saint Mary Magdalen Parish is hosting a funeral planning event with 4 funeral homes: Chandler, McCreary-Harra, Mealey, and Spicer-Mulikin. We will have a brief presentation by Father Kirk about our parish funeral planning guide, introduce the attending funeral homes, and allow time for you to browse and ask questions of them. Brandywine Hundred Deanery Catholic Lecture Series The Brandywine Hundred DLT invites you to join us for a Catholic lecture series to deepen faith and inspire outreach to our friends and family this Lent. The lectures will be held via zoom and it will also be shown in the church hall. The first lecture is Tuesday, February 13th at 7pm with Dr. Christopher Kaczor on How to Be Happier. He will talk about the worst time of his life and how things changed for the better. It will explore insights from psychology, philosophy, and spirituality for becoming happier. St. Paul’s Letter to the Romans Class Sunday, January 28th from 2-4pm, as part of Catholic Schools Week, we will offer a special class on St. Paul’s Letter to the Romans taught by Principal Tiernan. The class will offer an overview of St. Paul’s most comprehensive letter. We will also consider the interpretation of key passages against the backdrop of the Pauline canon. Participants will develop a deeper appreciation for Scripture and its role in their faith journey. Refreshments and study materials will be provided at no cost to participants. Tax Donation Letters The 2023 tax donation letters will be sent via email on Friday, January 12th to all parishioners that have previously requested for annual statements to be sent each year. If you didn't receive a letter last year and would like a 2023 tax donation letter sent via email, please contact Kylie Lavelle or call the parish office 302-652-6800 to request to have a tax donation letter automatically emailed each year.
Epiphany Blessing Kits Epiphany blessing kitswill be available at all weekend Masses on January 6 & 7 at the side exits. They will include a home prayer, blessed hay, and chalk to mark your home.
